Hello, I’m Charles Barnes, and I have a few positive things to say about Oklahoma’s real estate market. I have been in the real estate business in Oklahoma for over 50 years! It has been a great experience. When I started on February 15, 1971, I sold 17 homes my first month and received as many listings. In those days, revenue from listings was but 10% of the commission. All real estate offices worked for sales, not realizing listings were the lifeblood of the real estate business.
Today, things have changed. Listings generally pay as much as a sale. People are moving to Oklahoma in droves every day and looking for a home to buy; not to mention investors outside of Oklahoma investing into our state.
When I started, interest rates for FHA and VA loans were around seven percent, and even higher for conventional loans. Today, if you receive a listing, people from all over the country are ready to buy at unbelievably low rates.
We haven’t seen a “land rush” like this since 1889 in Oklahoma. If you have ever considered selling real estate, there has never been a better opportunity to enter the real estate business than right now.

My grandparents made the land run of 1889 and had to work hard tilling the soil and building a log cabin just to survive.
